Volvo Electric Showroom

Volvo’s C40 Recharge launch introduced a new way to interact with electric vehicle technology
by transforming electrical outlets into interactive portals. Users accessed a 3D web experience
by pointing their phone camera at a socket, allowing them to explore the car’s design, features,
and even schedule test drives.

André Mattos and Gabriel Santos (GAN) were responsible for the production, creation, and
development of the UX, UI, 3D assets, machine learning for outlet detection, and WebGL
integration, creating an engaging and interactive virtual showroom experience.

This project, completed in collaboration with Midiadub and Grey, was shortlisted at Cannes
Lions.

What it’s about: Turning ordinary sockets into gateways to a virtual car showroom.

We love this project for: Its creative use of technology to engage users in a novel way.

Things to watch out for: The 3D experience accessed through socket recognition.
